“Hi my name is Lauren and I am 12 years old. I have been part of Emma Bassett’s performing arts for 2 years now and this year is my 3rd. I have experienced a lot throughout the years and it has incredibly boosted my confidence and my social skills. I think that performing arts is a great opportunity for children that would like to be part of the performing industry in their future career.”

“Within the session Emma gives us a chance to get into groups of our choice and direct our own scenes that we present at the end to the other people in the class. Working in groups is a great way to make friends and get to know people in the class well. Also, we get to listen to other people’s ideas.”

“Our show lies every June or July at the Grand Opera House York, we work very hard on show work throughout the year and having a show is a great way to show family and friends what we have been doing and learning. We put a lot of effort into the show and it is so much fun as well. It is such an experience and we all enjoy every minute of it. I really enjoy coming to performing arts every week and I love learning new dances and songs and it is great at the end of the year to be able to show everyone what we have worked on.” (Lauren age 12)

What a Great Success at York St Leonard’s Hospice!

Perform pupils were shown in the York press recently staging a number of Annie and Oliver songs to the ladies and gentlemen in day care at York St Leonards hospice. This was a great experience for the children to perform within the community and had the patients singing out from their seats!
