Since an early age I have participated in all areas of the performing arts. My passion for the arts led me to train at a London University gaining a BA Honours Degree in Dance/Performing Arts. After graduating I gained my P.G.C.E. teaching qualification and set up my own performing arts school in York.
Alongside this I got the job as dance teacher at York College where I have taught over a variety of courses such as A level dance, Musical theatre and Acting. I set up and was course leader of the ‘BTEC Extended Diploma in dance’ course which was the first one in the Country. From this my students went on and became extremely successful gaining places in top dance schools and universities such as London theatre school, Masters, Middlesex and LIPA, to name only a few.
I enjoy keeping up to date with the industry participating in amateur dramatics. I enjoy choreographing dances for the cast and performing in the shows. This is great fun! I also work at different schools around the York area as the schools dance teacher. When I graduated I taught performing arts in Italy, Spain, Greece, and France which was a rewarding and valuable experience.
The safety of my pupils is paramount, therefore I ensure working in a safe environment is essential. Risk assessments and health and safety procedures are in place. I have an up to date First Aid certificate and CRB certificate and I have full Public liability insurance. I keep up to date with developments in the performing arts and education and I attend appropriate courses to further develop my skills within the industry.
